Employee/Device Offboarding - User

These instructions should be followed when a user stops using, or purchases a new device.

This is only needed if you are signed in to an Apple ID on your device 
Make sure that all personal data is stored before logging out from your Apple ID on your device. Save all personal data to a Cloud Service.
 
  • If you are signed in to an Apple ID that belongs to the company, you will not be able to reach pictures stored in the company iCloud. If this is the case, please move possible private pictures to a cloud service.
  • If you are signed in with a private Apple ID, make sure that you have synchronised the pictures on the phone with iCloud. By doing this you will have access to these pictures wherever you sign in to your iCloud. 

How to back up your iOS device with iCloud

Note! This is only possible with a personal Apple ID!
  1. Connect your device to a Wi-Fi network.
  2. Go to Settings > [your name], and tap iCloud.
  3. Tap iCloud Backup.
  4. Tap Back Up Now. Stay connected to your Wi-Fi network until the process ends. Under Back Up Now, the date and time of your last backup is shown. If you get an alert that you don't have enough iCloud storage space to complete the backup, follow the onscreen steps to buy more iCloud storage.

iOS devices - Turn off Find My iPhone/iPad

  1. Open Settings
  2. Tap [your name] -> Find My
  3. Tap Find My iPhone, then tap to turn it off. On an iPad or iPod touch, tap "Find My iPad" or "Find My iPod touch."
  4. Enter your Apple ID password and tap Turn Off. Forgot your password?
  5. Go back Scroll down and tap Sign Out. Enter your Apple ID password and tap Turn Off. If you no longer have access to your iPhone, you can remove a device from Find My iPhone on iCloud.com

iOS devices -Sign out of iCloud

  1. Go to Settings, then tap your name. 
  2. Scroll down to the bottom.
  3. Tap Sign Out.
  4. Enter your Apple ID password and tap Turn Off.
  5. Turn on the data that you want to keep a copy of on your device.
  6. Tap Sign Out.
  7. Tap Sign Out again to confirm that you want to sign out of iCloud.

macOS devices - Turn off Activation Lock

macOS Ventura or later:

  1. Choose Apple menu  > System Settings.
  2. Click your name (Apple ID) in the sidebar.
  3. Click iCloud on the right.
  4. Click the Show More Apps button (or Show All button) on the right, then click Find My Mac and turn it off. Enter your Apple ID password when prompted.
     
macOS Monterey or earlier:
  1. Choose Apple menu  > System Preferences.
  2. Click Apple ID
  3. Click iCloud in the sidebar.
  4. Deselect the Find My Mac checkbox on the right, then enter your Apple ID password when prompted. 

macOS devices - Sign out of iCloud

macOS Ventura or later:

  1. Choose Apple menu  > System Settings.
  2. Click your name.
  3. Click Sign Out.
  4. If you want to a keep a copy of your iCloud data on your Mac before you sign out, make sure that you select the appropriate checkboxes. Then click Keep a Copy.
  5. If you want to keep a copy of your Safari passwords on your Mac, click Keep on This Mac.

macOS Monterey or earlier:

  1. Choose Apple menu  > System Preferences.
  2. Click Apple ID, then click Overview.
  3. Click Sign Out.
  4. If you want to keep a copy of your iCloud data on your Mac before you sign out, make sure that you select the appropriate checkboxes. Then click Keep a Copy.
  5. If you want to keep a copy of your Safari passwords on your Mac, click Keep on This Mac.
